Leaving Family Behind
The thought always crosses my mind while watching movies when i see young people living in the city by themselves, without any family or relatives around them, just friends. where are their parents? their siblings? aunts? uncles? did they just leave everything behind and start somewhere totally new? how do people do that? just leave family behind and be so far away from them. Family is everything in my life, although there is problems, i know i will always have my parents if anything goes wrong, and the idea of leaving them terrifies me. I wanna do so much in my life. I have so many dreams, ideas, and aspirations in life. I wanna travel and i wanna live in places like England and San Francisco, but how can i just grab my things and go? i understand it is easier for people that don't have much family support, but for the people that do? how do they deal with the distance? how do they cope with change? it’s tough. Just living 40 mins away is tough, i feel like i miss out from things my family does, like get togethers, because i'm not living at home; but at the same time, if i was living at home, i would be missing the college experience and all the great things i have been lucky enough to experience. it is tough. i am in a stage in my life when i'm experiencing so much and i am slowly evolving into an adult from a teenager and it’s hard to process life when everything is moving so quickly. Maybe in the future things will be different, i just hope my family always stays close and i always have my parents there for me whenever i need them. I love them so much, and just because i wanna explore and go places, does not mean i will ever forget them or forget where i came from. i don’t wanna be selfish, but i don’t wanna be held back either from experiencing awesome ,new things. even though i feel lonely sometimes and i miss seeing my family and parents on a daily basis, i do not regret my decision of coming to college here at all. i love it, and it has open so many doors and opportunities for me.
